Originally Moebuis Strips was a multichannel audio installation for museums, galleries and other public spaces. For this project Tim Story, in cooperation with Moebius' widow Irene, collected thousands of sounds, noises, samples and loops, and rearranged and recomposed this material into so called patterned "strips", in fact a combination of "new and ever-evolving layers on the installation's soundstage".
For the Moebius Strips compilation, an impressive group of contributors has been invited: friends, collaborators, people inspired by music of Moebius. Among them are Geoff Barrow (Portishead, Beak), Sarah Davachi, Jean-Benoit Dunckel (Air), Eve Maret, Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Phew, Hans-Joachim Rodelius (Cluster, Harmonia), Michael Rother (Harmonia, NEU!) and Yuri Suzuki. The tracks of the compilation are quite different, from more experimental to ambient, mellow and rhythmical. The quality of the compositions is very high, the sound is beautiful and atmospheric in general.
This compilation is also supplied by a limited edition cd, including options of 200 copies hand numbered and signed by Tim Story or a shirt/CD bundle. The CD package was designed by artist Sebastian Boecking and contains a 32 page booklet with many unpublished photos, new essays by Tim Story and Geeta Dayal plus spot gloss printing of Moebius' signature. Excellent collecting item and great selection of music!
